Galeto Brazilian Steakhouse Review: So Much Juicy Meat (Oakland)

If the thought of endless juicy rotisserie meat served on skewers and carved table side makes you salivate then you need to head over to Galeto Brazilian Steakhouse in Oakland. Be prepared to have all your senses completely overwhelmed by various cuts of meat from ribeyes, skirt, flank, leg of lamb, pork and chicken.

Patrick and I recently went for dinner as guests of the house and we really enjoyed ourselves. As soon as we sat down, we were served a scrumptious plate of traditional appetizers: tapioca cheese bread, fried plantains and fried polenta.

Then we hit up the buffet, which was impressively diverse in comparison to Fogo de Chao. There was a lot of variety to choose from like feijoada, salami, fresh mozzarella, mango salad and smoked salmon.

As much as I wanted to pig out at the buffet, I held back because the meat is what Galeto is all about. Each skewer of meat they brought out was super good, and what makes it even more awesome is that you can request the meat cooked to your preference (medium rare for me, please). Our favorite cut of the night was the glistening ribeye. It was perfectly seasoned with a gorgeous crown in tact and you could see the juices drip through each cut.

As we begin to settle in with our consumption of meats, a caipirinha cart appears before us!

Caipirinha is Brazil's national cocktail made of cachaça (sugar cane hard liquor), limes and sugar. I've had more caipirinhas than I can count in my life and theirs is worth the trip to Galeto alone. Believe me, not everyone can nail down this drink.

We end a fantastic meal with two decent desserts, a flan and warm chocolate cake.

Brazilian steakhouses are a fun experience that's well worth the value. Galeto is priced at $49.95 per person, which is money well spent in comparison to overpriced American steakhouses that I often find to be unsatisfying. Galeto's price is also $10 less than other Brazilian steakhouses in the Bay Area. Galeto offers a few less options than other well-known Brazilian steakhouses. You won't find a skewer of hearts here, but they do stack up to the high standards of their competitors.

Galeto is worth more than a visit. I'll definitely be back.

Thank you Galeto team for having us for dinner!
