Tres leches (three milks cake) is one of my favorite cakes in the world. It a beautiful marriage of evaporated, condensed milk, whole milk and heavy cream to create a sweet and milky soaked dense cake.
The first time I made this cake was for Patrick's 30th birthday last March and it was a hit. I've been asked a number of times to make it for special occasions. It's a dangerous cake because no one can just eat one slice. It's so good that I've had it alone for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
This recipe is super easy and it truly is the best tres leches cake I've ever had (and I've had a lot). I haven't found any other tres leches that can even come close to the texture and flavor of this one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do: Tres Leches Cake on AllRecipes.com.
Note: I highly recommend using a hand mixer vs a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer because the batter doesn't seem to come out right on the Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. For the whipped cream frosting, add only 1/4 cup powdered sugar.
