Nido in Oakland: Home-style Mexican Brunch from the Heart (Review)

If you're looking for a new place to have brunch this three-day weekend then look no more. Just a few weeks ago, Patrick and I had the most amazing Mexican home-style brunch at Nido, a restaurant located in Oakland's Jack London Square.

Patrick ordered a delicious ceviche, which had generous cuts of white fish and a good amount of large plump shrimp. I had the chorizo sopes, which are thick tortillas made of masa. I was incredibly happy because I never had such great sopes before; I am completely hooked. I also ordered a nice combo of Highwire Coffee with horchata, a very nice and well-balanced combination, complimenting my meal quite well.

Did I mention that this place is super cute? The design and ambiance of Nido was inviting and comfortable. It felt like we were invited to eat at someone's actual home with all the vibrant colors, succulent plants, and casual-chic dining furniture. The hospitality and service was wonderful. Our waitress was so kind, personable, and gave us some great recommendations.

Nido has great quality food, culture and heart. It highlights Mexican cuisine in a different light than most and each dish is made with so much pride. It reminds me of how much I love Mexican cuisine. I highly recommend Nido for brunch, and I look forward to trying both lunch and dinner as well. This place has won my heart, which is not an easy thing to do :)
